John Tedesco (4th Generation)
(son of owner, Mike Tedesco)
The most memorable times of my life had to be at the restaurant. I grew up with a dad who worked at the restaurant either nights or weekends (switched on and off with my Uncle Tony, his brother). I remember him bringing home the bacon (literally speaking) and pizza for dinner! I loved that pizza.
When I was little, like 6 or 7 years old I used to go to work with him on the weekends and 'help', which turned out to be more like sitting at the bar sipping on 7up and eating the cocktail cherries! But as I got older I helped a lot,.
When I was 13 and 14 years old, I started to learn how to make pizza, this was fun for me, but I was always disappointed that I couldn't make pizza pies for customers yet, I just wasn't good enough, and my attention span was short, so I burnt a lot of my own pizza! But when I was about 16 or 17, I started to be the Friday and Saturday night pie man, those were some great nights! I cooked about a hundred piesz a night and it was a blast, definitely a great learning experience and foundation for my future to have started such a responsible job at such a young age.
My Dad and Uncle eventually got a bid to run a concession stand for a whole summer at a local swim club, that I ran entirely on my own. I managed the food inventory, the money, and did most of the cooking, and worked with a few of my cousinsevery weekend.
I think the most memorable times though at the restaurant was the time spent with my cousins, Aunts, and Uncles, not to mention my Grandmother. It wasn't always work, it was a lot of fun, we used to play games in the kitchen when it wasn't busy, darts in the bar, even pool when we had a pool table, and had that beer tapper game that I played all the time trying to beat Uncle Tony's high score!
Today, I am the designer and developer of this website, and have made a profession out of it! My dad always said he wanted to get the website running that included the entire history of our restaurant, so one day, I took some photos and built the first site in 2005. But it was only photos, so here is the new site, September of 2007 and I revamped the site for his 60th birthday party. The site's design is now final, and I'm looking forward to getting new information, learning more about our family, and keeping the site up to date. |
